Steel Paws 2024

The Cayce Police Department Announces

Details for Steel Paws 2024

CAYCE, SC – The Cayce Police Department (CPD) will introduce the newest member of their K9 team in conjunction with the two-day Steel Paws festivities at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman Street, Cayce) on May 10 – 11.

The success of the initiative and the importance of our K9 programs continues to draw community partnerships: Jim Hudson Automotive, the Cayce Public Safety Foundation, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Steel Hands Brewing, and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department just to name a few.

Cayce Police Chief, Chris Cowan, stated, “Police K9s provide an irreplaceable service to our communities. From apprehending criminals, finding drugs, and locating missing children to improving community relationships. The work of our K9 officers can only be done through the commitment of the handlers, the local agencies; and were brought to fruition with funding from local partners. Our Public Safety Foundation works tirelessly to raise money and the Steel Paws Partnership has a tremendous impact on the Cayce Police Department and the local Sheriff’s Departments.  The contributions to Steel Paws will continue the tradition of our K9 officers making our communities the best places to live, work and play.”

In the past two years, the Steel Paws Initiative has raised more than $160,000 for K9 programs across South Carolina. Many of the items purchased with the funds include K9 training, K9 tactical vests, K9 dog food and medical care, cooling vests, ballistics vests, handler trainings and more. This year, the proceeds from the events will benefit the Cayce Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Lexington County Sheriff’s Department canine programs.

Steel Hands Brewing Marketing Director, Ashley Lambert, stated, “We wholeheartedly believe in the work being done by our local K-9s and their handlers to keep our community safe, and grateful for the role Steel Paws has played in sustainable fundraising for the cause. We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity and support of our community, and now to see those donations come full circle again this year is why the Steel Paws mission is so important to us.
